Duncan Campbell
Composer of the “Edinburgh Volunteers” was a native of Glenlyon and was piper to Sir Charles Forbes of Neve in Aberdeenshire and thereafter he was an Atholl Highlander. He was a contemporary of Donald Cameron and won Third Prize at the Edinburgh Triennial Competition in 1838 and 1844.

Composer of “Captain Campbell of Drum-a-Voisk” was a contemporary of P/M Meldrum of the Cameron Highlanders 1877-80 and thereafter piper to Lord Breadalbane for many years. However P/M Willie Ross showed the composer of this tune as “D. Galbraith” in his book.
